My very first scripty job in the movie biz was with Jim Christopher and Twitchy Dolphin for the first installment of his series, Were Bitches. If you work in Austin, the odds are high that you’ve met Jim because he makes a film at least once a year. And Jim has parlayed all these connections into his real time indie film festival, Austin Revolution Film Festival, or ARFF for short. Knowing Jim, the acronym is no accident. He is a fun loving creature above all else and his enthusiasm for, and the energy he devotes to the indie film scene and its people is nothing short of miraculous. I know many people are grateful to ARFF for their first breaks into the film world. ARFF gave Zombie Jesus its first public screening and generously awarded the film with a Texas Best Short Comedy prize. Most Texans probably want the coveted ARFF belt buckle to wear. For now, mine sits in a prime spot on my book shelf. The best part though, was the fun we had at the festival meeting other indie filmmakers from Jim’s extensive list of friends. I encourage you to submit and join the fun.
